After seeing the right responses to the birth of Jesus from those who were present and involved firsthand like Joseph, Mary, the shepherds/angels, and the wise men, we see the wrong response in our final week in this year's Advent series.

Jealousy is a poison in the bones (Proverbs 14:30) and in the case of king Herod, drove him to murderous intentions and a rejection of the rightful King, Jesus.
