For the last three Sundays, we have been looking at Genesis 35 which is a transitional chapter between the to-le-doth of Isaac and the to-le-doth of Jacob. In looking at how the Lord prepared Jacob and his house, we can learn about how God prepares each generation of His people to go into the next.
Three weeks ago, we saw how the Lord renews us. Two weeks ago, we saw how the Lord purges us from idols. Last week, we saw how God set the stage for lessons to be learned in the next generation. This week, we will see how God transfers the mantle to the next generation.
In looking at Genesis 35:27-29, I want to reflect on three things that the Lord does when He passes the mantle to the next generation.
