Song of Solomon 4:7–12 is not only about Christ’s love for His church—it’s also Christ delighting in the church’s love for Him: “How beautiful is your love, my sister, my bride… better than wine” (v.10). This sermon traces how the Lord Jesus truly commends real grace in His people: justified “altogether beautiful” (v.7) and, by regeneration, bearing genuine fruit He calls beautiful. We consider practical expressions of love to Christ—faith’s “look” in prayer (4:9), joyful obedience (Jn 14:15), love for the saints, evangelism (Rom 10:15), costly worship (Mk 14), endurance in trials (Ps 91), and even godly contrition (Ps 51:17). With Scriptures like 1 Peter 1:8 and John 17:26, we see why every true believer does love the unseen Christ, and how believing His commendation strengthens assurance, comforts the discouraged, and stirs us to deeper holiness.
