In the aftermath of Charlie Kirk’s assassination, it’s clear that God’s people have a significant choice to make: Will we publicly identify with Jesus of Nazareth and our Christian faith, no matter what? As Christ-followers, it’s our necessary responsibility. God’s assignment is for us to live in obedience to Scripture in the midst of our culture so we might impact our world with His values. We cannot change our message in response to bullying or threats by those who oppose our biblical worldview. Frankly, Charlie Kirk was murdered, not because of his political perspectives, but because of his untiring advocacy for a biblical worldview—the definition of marriage being between a man and a woman, gender identification, and human sexuality—ideas over which our culture is deceived and increasingly intolerant. Nevertheless, we must have the courage to be advocates for what we believe. Fear is not helpful, and we must realize suffering and dying for our faith is part of our biblical history, and this will not change until Jesus, the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, returns. Until that time, the mission of God’s people throughout the Bible is to provide a living expression of faith to each generation. Let’s decide to use our lives and our voices, no matter the consequences.
