Background
Before the days of King Josiah of Judah, (640-609 BC), many of the Children of Israel continued in the “promised land” to practice the SIN of Idolatry.

This SIN against the LORD GOD, OUR CREATOR, was the VERY SIN that caused the former inhabitants of Canaan to be removed from the land, an oasis, flowing with “milk and honey”, under the leadership of the prophet Joshua.

The SIN OF IDOLATRY WORSHIP was reintroduced by King Solomon of Israel, so that his many foreign wives could worship idols. The reintroduction of this SIN caused the “promised land” to be DIVIDED into TWO NATIONS, after King Solomon died.

The southern nation became the nation of JUDAH, and King Josiah’s grandfather, King Hezekiah of Judah put in place reforms to end the SIN practice of idol worship. After his death his son King Manasseh of the Kingdom of Judah, reintroduced the SIN of Idolatry worship.

King Manasseh of Judah offered up his son as a human sacifice to the idol god Moab. King Manasseh desecrated the LORD’S TEMPLE IN JERUSALEM, by building idol shines in the Temple.

It was this SIN that caused the LORD GOD JEHOVAH to issue a strong JUDGEMENT AGAINST THE KINGDOM OF JUDAH.
