Welcome to the One Verse Daily Devotional, where we look at one verse every day to grow a little bit deeper in our faith.
In the Old Testament, God told Moses that His name was I AM. In the NT, Jesus finished the statement and explained who God is in our lives.
I love when the New Testament connects back to the Old Testament. One of my favorite connecting points are the I AM passages of Jesus in the Gospel of John. These statements refer all the way back to Moses standing in front of the burning bush in Exodus. God tells Moses to go back to Egypt and free His people. “But who will I say sent me?” Moses asked. In other words, Moses asked God His name. What does God call Himself? God answered, “I AM.” Which I feel is a little vague. Ok, God, that’s cool. You are... what? In the Gospel of John, Jesus makes several I AM statements. By doing this, He is claiming to be God and also finishing the statement: “I Am [blank]” Today, in John 10:14, Jesus says, "I am... the Good Shepherd."

Is it hard to find time to spend with God? Daily Bible reading can be tough, but it doesn’t have to be!

The One Verse Daily Devotional is a short, 5-7 minute daily Bible study for both men and women where we have one simple goal: Grow deeper in our faith through just one verse a day.

A practical and encouraging look at the Bible, now you can spend time with God whenever you want. The One Verse Daily Devotional is hosted by Matt McCarrick and produced by Phosphorus Project.
