ORDER OF WORSHIP – August 15, 2021

* Call to Worship: Isaiah 12:1-6
Pastor: You will say in that day: “I will give thanks to you, O LORD, for though you were angry with me, your anger turned away, that you might comfort me.

People: Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the LORD GOD is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.”

Pastor: With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. And you will say in that day:

People: “Give thanks to the LORD, call upon his name, make know his deeds among the peoples, proclaim that his name is exalted.

Pastor: Sing praises to the LORD, for he has done gloriously; let this be made known in all the earth. Shout, and sing for joy, O inhabitant of Zion, for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel.”

*Hymn of Praise: “All People That on Earth Do Dwell” #1

*Prayer of Adoration and The Lord’s Prayer

Call to Confession: Isaiah 6:1-5
“In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one called to another and said, ‘Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!’ And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke. And I said: ‘Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts!”

Prayer of Confession:
Most merciful God, we confess with Isaiah that each one of us has unclean lips, and we dwell together in the midst of a people of unclean lips. Rather than using our tongues to praise you and build up one another, we find that our hearts are far from you as we bite and devour one another with our words. Gracious Father, as we behold your glory together in your Word, we look to the One who endured the fury of your wrath, and ask that you would remove the stain of guilt and forgive us our many sins. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon: Isaiah 6:6-7
“Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth and said, ‘Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for.”
