Today's word draws inspiration from
Isaiah chapter 49, verse 11
"I will make all of my mountains into roads"
God will make our obstacles serve His purpose. We all have mountains in our lives, and often they are people and things that threaten to bar our progress in the Divine life. They may be untruths told about us, or a difficult job. Often we pray for their removal, for we tend to think that if only these things were removed, we would live a more tender, pure and holy life.
As it says in the book of Luke : “How foolish you are, and slow of heart!”
These are the very conditions we need for achievement; and they have been put into our lives as the means of producing the very graces and virtues for which we have been praying so long. We have prayed for patience for many long years, yet when something tests us, we run from it; we see it as an insurmountable obstacle to the desired attainment, and we believe that if it were removed, we would experience immediate deliverance and victory.
Not so! We would only see our impatience end. But this would not be patience. Patience can be acquired only through just such trials as now seem unbearable. Go back; submit yourself. Claim to be a partaker in the patience of Jesus, and meet thy trials in Him. There is nothing in life which harasses and annoys you so that it may not submit to the highest purpose. Remember, these are God's mountains. He puts them there for a reason.
We know that God will not fail to keep His promise.
