In our last study we saw how God will come down to deliver Jerusalem. We read in verse 5-6 “So will the LORD of hosts defend Jerusalem. Defending, He will also deliver it; Passing over, He will preserve it.” 6 Return to Him against whom the children of Israel have deeply revolted. 7 For in that day every man shall throw away his idols of silver and his idols of gold—sin, which your own hands have made for yourselves. We looked at how we today can make idols for ourselves, not necessarily from silver or gold, but from our own sin, we can make anything an idol. If we love anything more than God, it has become an idol. We didn’t cover these next few verses in chapter 31 last time, but they go hand in hand with God’s deliverance. These verses speak of the downfall of Assyria.
