*Public Confession of Sin:
Our Father, you are most wise, kind, and generous! You are the everlasting God, the Maker of heaven and earth, and a refuge for all who flee to Christ. We have sinned by seeking comfort from this world instead of the world to come. You have richly blessed and amply provided, but we have delighted in the temporal gifts more than the eternal Giver. You have filled our cup and gladdened our hearts, but we have enjoyed the celebration more than the One we celebrate. You have given us companions and enriched our fellowship, but we have taken more pleasure in our friendships than in our communion with you. Worst of all, too often our hearts have grown cold, our minds numb, and our spirits indifferent to the great mystery and marvel of our Lord’s Incarnation. Please forgive us for Jesus’ sake. Amen.

*Confession of Faith: From Various Scriptures
We believe that Adam was tempted by the devil so that he disobeyed the Lord in eating the forbidden fruit. As a result, death spread to all men because in Adam all sinned. Yet out of mere love and mercy God promised to send the seed of the woman, a righteous Champion, to destroy the works of the devil.
We believe that a star has come out of Jacob and a scepter has risen from Israel. The virgin Mary conceived and bore a son called Immanuel, which means God with us. He is Jesus our Savior and Christ the Anointed. He is the Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace.
We believe that Jesus is the promised seed, the Lord’s Anointed, the morning star, and the King of kings! He is the virgin’s child and the Father’s Son, the radiance of God’s glory and the exact imprint of his nature. All who receive Jesus, who believe in his name, are given the right to become children of God, and they will never perish but have everlasting life. Amen.
