This prophetic chapter has a vision of the united kingdom Israel, of the wonderful time when God himself brings back the exiles of Judah and Israel, who were taken to a foreign country as a judgment for their sins back to their own land Israel. This chapter is notable for

1. the quoting of 31:15 in the “Massacre of the Innocents" narrative in Mt 2:16-18).

2. God’s declaration of the new covenant, the “inward” code for living written not on stone but in the “hearts” of Gods people. (33)
This chapter beautifully portrays the expression of sorrow and repentance of God’s chosen people and the LORDs affirmation of His everlasting love and faithfulness.
