Our Father, you are the true and living God who sits enthroned in the heavens and reigns supreme on high. We were made to glorify and enjoy your great name and to thrive in your blessed fellowship. Those who will worship you in Spirit and truth are the people you seek, and you satisfy them with the holiness of your temple. Yet with shame we confess our failure to honor your majesty as it so richly deserves. Too often we have been halfhearted in your presence and insincere by your throne. In your house we have allowed things of the world to distract our focus and affect our worship. At times hypocrisy has prevailed as we have appeared godly in church but denied its power in life. Our actions have been unworthy of Christ. Our words on occasion have been irreverent, unseasoned, and profane. Our thoughts have been mingled with vile and wicked things. We have been like whitewashed tombs filled with foulness and corruption. Please forgive us for Jesus' sake. Amen.

Confession of Faith: The Heidelberg Catechism #1
Minister: What is your only comfort in life and in death?
Unison: That I, with body and soul, both in life and in death, am not my own, but belong to my faithful Savior Jesus Christ, who with His precious blood has fully satisfied for all my sins, and redeemed me from all the power of the devil; and so preserves me that without the will of my Father in heaven not a hair can fall from my head; indeed, that all things must work together for my salvation. Wherefore, by His Holy Spirit, He also assures me of eternal life, and makes me heartily willing and ready from now on to live unto Him.
