Down through the ages, people have contemplated what they can give to God; hence, usually to secure some favor from Him. It may range from the quest for immortality to wanting luck to win the lottery- from the sublime to the ridiculous. Let us remember that giving to God must be done from the perspective that He prescribes, and, in the manner, He has laid out. We can give back to Him only what He has already given us, He does not need what we give; we need to learn the proper spirit of giving. It changes our character and spiritual perspective in a very positive direction when we give His way.
When we give the sacrifice, He planned for us out of gratitude, humility, and kindness, we step into a place of blessing. God is not forgetful of those who thus honor Him. (Bible Expositor and Illuminator Union Gospel Press, Fall Quarter 2022).
