Today’s Verse: Nehemiah 4:17 (NKJV)
“Those who built on the wall, and those who carried burdens, loaded themselves so that with one hand they worked at construction, and with the other held a weapon.”

In Nehemiah’s day, the people of God rebuilt the walls of Jerusalem while facing fierce opposition. They worked with one hand and defended with the other—holding both a tool and a weapon. It was a picture of faith and vigilance, showing that building God’s kingdom and battling the enemy often happen side by side.

Today, we are called to the same mindset. The sword represents the Word of God—the weapon of truth. The trowel represents the work of ministry—the effort to build lives, homes, and churches on the foundation of Christ. We must be ready to do both: to build faithfully and to fight spiritually.

So today, take courage. When you see the work of God under attack, don’t lose heart—rejoice! The opposition only confirms that the work matters. Stand firm, sword in one hand and trowel in the other, building what God has called you to while defending His truth with boldness and love.
