The Horror of False Conversion
There are those who do not understand how to be saved, have it explained though someone who doesn’t understand, and their life becomes worse than it was before.
Sometimes understood as coming under attack by Satan because they have been saved; other times, lacking genuine salvation, their situation is as described in Matthew 12:43-45 and Luke 11:24-26.
Luke 11:24-26 - when the unclean spirit has gone out of a person, it roams through waterless places in search of a place of rest, release, refreshment, and finding none it says, I will go back to my house from which I came.
25 and when it arrives, it finds the place swept and put in order and furnished and decorated.
26 and it goes and brings other spirits, seven of them, more evil than itself, and they enter in, settle down, and dwell there; and the last state of that person is worse than the first.
In the age of grace, the church age, that “last state” could be false conversion.
Are times when a person is led into a false salvation, go through the actions as they appear to be called for then suffer worse situations than before.
False professions?
Fire insurance: you don’t want to go to hell, do you?
No one believing in heaven and hell wants to go to hell so they invite Jesus…
Once the urgency of avoiding hell is satisfied they go back to old ways
For a time they clean up their act; go to church; pray occasionally; buy a bible, read it sometimes
Closely mimic real salvation actions
But heart is not in it.
Return to the same sins; maybe worse
Their godly actions may temporarily push satanic actions out of their life but…
Life actions become worse
There is NO positive change
True salvation follows a different course of action
Not fire insurance
Holy Spirit convicts of one’s sinfulness; there is remorse
Apology of sorts
Request for forgiveness; Christ
Life actions not quite as bad; improvement but hardly sinless; though sometimes
THERE ARE DEFINITE improvements
Life becomes more God honoring
Heart is softened toward righteous living
Test of real salvation is to look back at some point and evaluate whether Christ has made some positive changes in your life.
If see you’re not perfect; feel you have let God down, pretty good chance you’re saved.
