The disciples ask Jesus why the "teachers of the law say that Elijah must come first?" Jesus tells them that Elijah was most certainly to come first, but Elijah had already come. He was not reincarnated (as the Bible doesn't teach such a thing), but that John the Baptist came in the spirit and power of Elijah. He wore the "mantle" Elijah wore.
Jesus heals a demonized boy and the disciples ask Jesus why they couldn't drive the demon out of the boy. Jesus answered them by saying that it was because they had so "little faith." Whenever we take our eyes off of Jesus, we will be met with defeat. In our own power, we can do nothing. In Jesus' power, nothing will be impossible for us. A believer's authority is great, but the authority we carry is a delegated authority which is to be used in the same way that Jesus would use it. We have to keep this in mind.
Jesus directs Peter to get the money needed for the temple tax from out of the mouth of the first fish he catches on his line.
