Hey guys, this is Kati from Sanctuary Family Farms. I wanted to share a verse from Genesis chapter 45 verses 4 through 5.
And Joseph said unto his brethren, “Come near to me, I pray you.” And they came near. And he said, “I am Joseph your brother, whom ye sold into Egypt. Now therefore be not grieved nor angry with yourselves that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life.”
This is Joseph’s reaction after being reunited with his brothers that sold him into slavery. They had come to him hungry and in need, and he could have easily ordered their death or enslavement for no apparent reason for he now was the governor. Instead, he chose to reveal their heart and character. Joseph puts his brothers through several tests. Each time, his brothers made the choice to take care of each other and do what was best for their family. With relief and love, Joseph offers not only food, but the best land in Egypt to live, because he knew the famine would continue for another five years.
I pray that when I am presented with the opportunity to forgive that I seek God’s heart and not my own. I pray also that I am able to seek solace knowing that God is in control even when the circumstances aren’t as I want them to be. You see, Joseph had been a slave for several years, and in the midst of being at his rock bottom, he never lost character. He could have chosen to be bitter, but he consistently honored God by taking care of the people around him.
Thank you for listening, and have a great day in Christ.
