The Book of Nehemiah is on the schedule tonight and we pick up in chapter 3 this evening. What we have in Nehemiah is simply a historical record of the rebuilding of the fortification around Jerusalem as Judah returned from their Babylonian/Persian captivity.

As with all historical records in the bible, application of what is to be learned by that history is vital. What we see in this book is an acknowledgement of the problem which led to the captivity. Rebellion against God and the consequences of leaving His covering. We see a care taken to institute God ordained worship in Ezra and in Nehemiah remaking a defensible city wall to safeguard the inhabitants.

There are numerous spiritual applications which can be made through this study of History and we will pick that back up tonight as we get to chapters 3 and 4.
