This section is one of a handful of passages where the people are acknowledging their responsibility for the condition of things in Judah. This was the history of the nation. God gives instruction on righteous living, warnings for disobedience and then the wreckage that followed when they rebelled.

There is so much to learn from this, even to this day. God is not careless in the instruction He gives and when failure comes in, the immediate cause is man's unwillingness to do as He instructs.
