1 Corinthians 1:11-12 ~ My brothers and sisters, some from Chloe’s household have informed me that there are quarrels among you. What I mean is this: One of you says, “I follow Paul”; another, “I follow Apollos”; another, “I follow Cephas”; still another, “I follow Christ.”
NOT A SPECTATOR’S SPORT
** It is common place in the world for groups of people to become fans of those who make great accomplishments.
** These fans derive great pleasure in arguing with the fans of other groups about “who is the greatest”.
** Christianity is not a sport’s event. We have not been called to sit in the bleachers cheering on our heroes. We have been called to join God in the hard work of winning souls.
{Dear Father, keep us mindful that we have been set apart to lead the world to the glorious light of Jesus. Help us to remember that the devil is continuously attempting to distract us from this mission. We pray not to envy and compete with one another. In deep compassion and brotherly love, we pray to walk side by side and hand in hand, bringing the lost to the love of Jesus. It is in the name of Jesus that we pray. Amen.}
Romans 12:2 ~ Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Isaiah 55:1 ~ Is anyone thirsty? Come and drink— even if you have no money! Come, take your choice of wine or milk— it’s all free!
2 Corinthians 3:6 ~ He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
