*Public Confession of Sin
Our Father, you are the great and mighty God, deep in counsel and awesome in deed, whose name is Lord of hosts. You are majestic in holiness and full of splendor, and all things serve your sovereign purpose. With shame and grief we confess that we have not honored your sacred and magnificent name as we should. We have tolerated the abuse of it in our lives, in our conversations, and in the things we both watch and read. Too often we have been woefully unprepared to come into your holy presence, and skeptical about the blessings you promise to bestow on those who seek you. We have murmured and complained with regard to your ordering of the world, and we have misapplied your word to suit our selfish and sinful desires. Often, by stressing secondary issues, we have downplayed the gospel itself and dishonored the very name of Christ. Please forgive us for Jesus’ sake. Amen.

Praise God from whom all blessings flow;

*Confession of Faith The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell;**
The third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
** i.e. his being buried, and continuing in the state of the dead, and under the power of death till the third day.
