*Public Confession of Sin:
Our Father, you are rich in mercy and full of compassion. Your anger is not easily provoked and your steadfast love abounds. For this we are sincerely thankful because we have sinned and fallen short. Our eyes we have not guarded, our tongues we have not tamed, and our tempers we have not kept under control. You chose us in Christ, redeemed us by blood, and renewed us by the power of his Spirit. Yet we have failed to do justice, neglected to love kindness, and declined to walk humbly with you as our God. What’s more, we have refused to consistently and sacrificially love our neighbors as ourselves. The fruit of our sin is misery and its awful wages is death. How sad and damaging are the effects of our sin, and they are clearly evident all around us. We have no merit of our own and nothing of worth to offer. Our only hope is in your sovereign mercy. Please forgive us for Jesus’ sake. Amen.
