Expository Sermon by Dr. D Richard Ferguson
Messages Highlights:
The phrase “search your hearts and be silent” literally means “speak to yourself and be silent.” True repentance comes when the part of you that understands and loves the Word of God does the talking and the part of you that wants to justify itself shuts up and listens. It falls short because it’s meaningless. Nothing is at stake. Awe involves real fear, and fear comes when the stakes are high.
There comes a time when a child is no longer satisfied with pretend keys, phones, cars, babies, or guns. They grow out of fantasy and want to enter reality. They want to be involved in serious things that really matter. That hunger keeps growing and is never really satisfied until you become involved in eternal things.
If God is our refuge, what are we told to fear him? Why fear a refuge? Is God safe or dangerous? He is safe when you are running to Him and He is dangerous when you are running away from Him.
