I have been hearing people ask, "What has happened in this country?" I try to help the understand that, by our history, the state of America shouldn't surprise us.
When bad things happen, God's people react. Our reactions are not always perfect or on point. But most of the time we should try to make some changes, especially when the bad thing was brought about by evil men (men & women). The pernicious aspect of evil is that it is oftentimes so appealing to an unrenewed mind that it often appears to be good. But sociopaths don't care one way or another. They just want what they want.
1. Look Above v24a
- Pray. Pray first before you make a move. But if you forget to pray early, pray late. Pray anyway because it's never too late to pray. God will always listen to the prayers of sinners and of the righteous for a sinner can be saved while the prayers of the righteous availeth much! Look above! Pray!
2. Look Around v24b
- Look around. You may have lost something. But how many of you know that your losing something doesn't mean that God hasn't left something? The blessing you need, the strength you need, the friend you need + all of these might already be in your presence! We get so fixated on what we don't have that we forget what we do have! Look around!
3. Leave Some Folk Alone v25
- We have a sense of our own failings. Empathy should move us to bring about changes to help those who sin. I understand that. I have sinned and yet I am saved! Anybody glad to be saved. But also have realize that some won't be saved and that they'll never change. Judas wouldn't change. He went down to his place in hell. They could not deliver him. They left him alone. The white supremacist who hunted Black elders in Buffalo & the child killer in Uvalde didn't change. Hell is waiting. Leave them alone! Manipulative misogynists who are turning women into handmaiden receptacles for unmelanated conservative seed will never change. Leave them alone! You can't change anyone. And when evil folk won't change, give 'em to God. Leave them alone!
