Last week we started a new section in the book of Romans that had wonderful instruction to believers, concerning their Spiritual Life and Service before God and One Another. Rabbi Paul began by exhorting believers, because of God's great mercy, to fully commit themselves to serving God. They were to "present their bodies a living and holy sacrifice." This would be, considering God's mercy towards them, their "reasonable service of worship (12:1)." We also learned that believers have been given special "gifts," according to the grace of God, for the purpose of ministry among the body of believers (12:5-8). This week the rabbi will describe some of the characteristics of a good, functioning ministry. He goes into specific detail, and there is much to learn. Paul also exhorts the believers concerning how to respond to persecution and evil. Should believers seek retribution towards those who are persecuting them? Well, come join us this Friday at Adat Shalom for our erev Shabbat Services, and we will seek to answer this challenging question.
