Jay Smith highlights the unity and diversity of the Body of Christ. Using the story of David and Goliath, he illustrates how God often chooses the overlooked and ordinary to accomplish extraordinary victories, not because of their strength, but because of who God is. David’s courage came from knowing his God intimately, enabling him to see Goliath’s size as nothing compared to God’s power. The challenge to the audience is clear: say “yes” to whatever God calls you to, regardless of the size of the obstacle, and step into the role He has prepared for you. Jesus is the Wonderful Counselor (able to heal and guide through any problem), the Mighty God (capable of rescuing the oppressed and trafficked), the Everlasting Father (who adopts the orphan and the unwanted), and the Prince of Peace (who brings calm and authority into chaos). He challenges the Church to embody these aspects of Christ, to be His hands and feet in a broken world so that through willing vessels, the world may see God’s love, power, and peace in action.
