Preaching is perilous. We may never know the results, but we can be sure of our preaching when we let it be God’s preaching. God brings his eternal election to us through his apostles and prophets, that is, through his word, a word never separate from Christ, a word where God brings us near to himself, removes our sins, transforms our minds and lives and bodies, a word that calls us sinners, gentiles, “them,” but then, in Jesus, in his blood, his flesh, his body, his cross, he calls us saints, declared so and living so, in him, in Christ. He who has ears, let him hear, I beg you.
