This week we start a new series studying the Gospel of John.
Starting from the end of the book we find John's reason for writing his Gospel in John 20:30-31; Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book But these are written THAT YOU MAY BELIEVE that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God and that by believing you may have life in his name.
The whole point in this book is that we would BELIEVE that Jesus is the Messiah.
We focus on three main points of belief as it pertains to this passage
1. WHAT TO BELIEVE IN
Faith is important, but it’s WHAT our faith is in that’s the most important
2. WHO DO WE NEED TO BELIEVE IN
Jesus of course
3. HOW ARE WE TO BELIEVE
In what ways are we to believe in Jesus. There’s a difference between thinking about something, hoping in something and depending on something
Here we learn that Jesus is
- judge
-Physician
-Sustainer
-The only way (The way, truth and life)
-He is our teacher
