When Jesus preached the Sermon on the Mount, Matthew records its beginning as containing a list of attitudes and actions that will yield happiness in the life of the hearer who put them into practice. The Beatitudes (as they have come to be known) are "attitudes" we should "be" or possess as we strive to walk daily in the light of the Savior. Indeed, every follower of Christ will be blessed (happy) if he or she adopts these godly principles that were first in and exemplified by our Lord. Matthew 5:6-8 entitled, "The Beatitudes."
