“The Christ & His Church!”
1 Timothy 3:14-16, Colossians 1:13-20, Hebrews 1:1-4 - Part 2

Introduction
Together 2022- a mega-event with big-name Christian celebrities. BUT, many of those celebs believe and teach false doctrine. Some are involved in transcendental meditation and other forms of Eastern Mysticism. Some teach another Gospel and that the Mormon Jesus is the same as the Biblical Jesus. This is “compromise” of Truth and the Scripture says the Church is (ought to be) THE Pillar & THE Bedrock of Truth in the world in this Age.
1. Purpose of the Letter (Vv. 14-15a)
-Paul was unsure he’d get to Ephesus again, but he wanted to be sure that everyone knew ‘how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God…”
-“House of God” is clearly a figure of speech for the Local Church &/or the Universal Church
-The “Church” – is extremely important to Jesus, The Christ. She is His ‘bride”!
2. Pillar (& Bedrock) of the Truth (V. 15b)
-The “one” thing Paul (& the Holy Spirit) say to describe the role and function of the CHURCH!
3. Profound Mystery of Godliness (Summation of Christology) (V. 16)
-“Without controversy” (NKJV) or “Beyond question” (NIV) or “By common confession” (NASB) – all good translations of the Greek word
-“MEGA” – HUGE!
-“Mystery” – not confusing or mysterious or hard to understand. Rather it means “before hidden/secret but now revealed/made known”
-“Godliness” – what “GOD” is ‘like’ – all we have to do is look at Jesus, The Christ and we learn what ‘godliness’ is
-“Without controversy, great is the mystery of godliness”
-“GOD, MANIFEST IN THE FLESH” – INCARNATION – John 1:14

Timeless Truth
The Church of Jesus, The Christ is by YHWH’s declaration the Pillar and the Bedrock of TRUTH in the world. And the GREATEST of ALL TRUTHS that the CHURCH must proclaim and preserve is the TRUTH about JESUS, THE CHRIST. The Apostle Paul said in Colossians 1:28 – “Him (Jesus, The Christ) we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man complete in Christ Jesus.”

Living Lesson
Unity and togetherness is a beautiful and blessed thing. But it is not more important or desirable than TRUTH and SOUND DOCTRINE. When people compromise the Truth in order to have ‘togetherness’ they are committing an egregious error and that is the reason the Church is not doing its job of being THE Pillar and THE Bedrock of TRUTH in the world today. May TFL always be a “PILLAR” and a “BEDROCK” of TRUTH!!
