1 Timothy 3:14-16, Colossians 1:13-20, Hebrews 1:1-4 - Part 3

Introduction
Jesus of Nazareth was a real, actual, historical person. He spent only 33 years on this planet but impacted it more in those 33 years than any other person who has ever lived. Imagine what it will be like when He returns to this earth – to STAY!!!

- Purpose of the Letter (Vv. 14-15a)
- Paul was unsure he’d get to Ephesus again, but he wanted to be sure that everyone knew ‘how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God…”

- Pillar (& Bedrock) of the Truth (V. 15b)
- The “one” thing Paul (& the Holy Spirit) say to describe the role and function of the CHURCH!

- Profound Mystery of Godliness (Summation of Christology) (V. 16)
- “MEGA (HUGE) Mystery” – not confusing or mysterious or hard to understand. Rather, it means “before hidden/secret but now revealed/made known”
- “Godliness” – what “GOD” is ‘like’ – all we have to do is look at Jesus, The Christ and we learn what ‘godliness’ is
- “Without controversy, great is the mystery of godliness”
- “GOD, MANIFEST IN THE FLESH” – INCARNATION – John 1:14
- “GOD, justified (proven, tested, vindicated) in the Spirit”
- “GOD, seen by angels”

Timeless Truth
Jesus of Nazareth was GOD in human flesh. YHWH the Holy Spirit proved and vindicated Him over and over and over again during His earthly life and ministry. The myriads of spirit beings we call Angels, saw Him, and can testify and verify that HE is YHWH – the Son of God, the Son of Man, the 2nd Person of the Eternal Godhead who is now present in Heaven awaiting His Father’s directive to go fetch His Bride. OH, what marvelous, glorious TRUTH TO PROCLAIM.

Living Lesson
Each phrase of this short verse of poetic discourse is jam-packed with grand and glorious truth. It is heartwarming stuff. It is praise-evoking stuff. It makes us want to shout and sing when we say it – understanding what powerful truth lies in every line of this little chorus. “GOD, was manifested in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen by angels…”
