We are rapidly approaching the High Holidays, and will be taking a brief break from our series in Isaiah to focus on their significance. In the meantime, we will continue our studies in Isaiah. This week we will continue with the prophet's predictions concerning specific kingdoms surrounding Israel (Judah). One of those kingdoms will be Aram (Syria). However, the other kingdom Isaiah will denounce will be Israel--the Northern kingdom.. Remember, at this time Israel was divided into two kingdoms; the Northern kingdom consisting of 10 tribes of Israel, and the Southern kingdom consisting of the other 2 tribes, Judah and Benjamin. Israel, the Northern kingdom had made an alliance with Aram (Syria) in an attempt to resist the greater power in the region which was Assyria. Isaiah predicted that the unfortunate end result would be the devastation of Israel's Northern kingdom, and the exile of many to Assyria. There is much to learn in this week's Bible text, so come join us this Friday night for Shabbat services at Adat Shalom. Both our "in person" congregational gathering, and our live stream broadcast of the service begin at 7:30pm. We will have wonderful worship, a challenging study in God's word, and warm food and fellowship at the close of our services. Looking forward to seeing you there.
