John reminds us that to know God in a personal and intimate way is to obey His command to love. We don't obey in order to receive His love but it is the fruit of being loved and truly knowing Him. To be a true follower of the One Who Is Love is to be both transformed by His love and become a vessel that expresses His love in the world. The true Christian shares in the desires of His Groom.
