After Job expresses his despair in response to the suffering he has been experiencing for months, Eliphaz, one of Job's friends, reminds him that God still works according to the law of divine retribution. As a result, Eliphaz confronts Job and exhorts him to decide if he will genuinely follow God according to this law of divine retribution. The two decisions that Eliphaz tells Job that he needs to follow are as follows:

Decision #1: Job, You Need to Understand God's Moral Code (4:2 - 5:7)
* An Appeal to History [4:3-6]
* An Appeal to Experience [4:7-11]
* An Appeal to Divine Revelation [4:12-17]
* An Appeal to Logic [4:18-21]
* An Appeal to Inference [5:1-7]

Decision #2: Job, You Need to Acknowledge God's Moral Code (5:8-27)
* Job, Stop Complaining, Groveling, and Whining about your Suffering and Go to the Lord Directly and Address it with Him [5:8-16]
* But Job, Since You Have Already Sinned against God (and Experiencing His Judgment), You Must Acknowledge that God is Correcting You and Disciplining You [5:17-26]
