As we discussed last week, all that Abraham had went through up to this point was maturing him and ultimately preparing him for this very moment. Now I know that this story for some is hard to understand. Why would God ask such a thing? Isaac was the promised son from whom the entire future of Israel would come. None of this makes sense. There are two prominent answers to this question. 1: God doesn’t ask Abraham to do this not knowing what will happen. God is Omnipresent, meaning He is not bound by time, living in the past, present and future, He knows all things. This test is not for God, to find out what will happen, but rather it’s for Abraham and for the testimony that will come from his obedience. I have said before that works before faith are all about us. Works after or because of our faith it’s all about Him. Faith has to have works that go along with in in order to confirm it.
