Pastor Joe Allyn continues preaching through Exodus, with an emphasis on the Lord's Day and how, as a creation ordnance, it is still to be kept today.
Trinity Reformed Church in Wichita, KS just started recording sermons so, while we have been preaching through Exodus all year long, this is the first video in the series. The audio sermons can be found: https://www.sermonaudio.com/search.asp?seriesOnly=true&currSection=sermonstopic&sourceid=trinityrpcna&keyword=Exodus&keyworddesc=Exodus
Outline:
Christ sanctifies you and gives you rest – therefore rest in Him!
At Sinai, God instituted timely reminders and sacrifices (23:10-11, 13-19, Col. 2:16-17, Rom. 14:5, Gal. 4:8-11)
This isn’t the first nor last mention of the Sabbath (31:16-17, 16:25-30, Gen. 1:2-3, Mt. 12:1-8, Heb. 4:9)
The Sabbath was made for man, for the poor, for rest (23:11-12, Mk. 2:27, Mt. 8:20)
But, God didn’t leave rest undefined (16:23-24, 29; 35:2b-3; Neh. 13:15ff, Num. 15:32-34, Is. 58:13-14)
God took Sabbath violations seriously (31:14-15, 35:2, Num. 15:27-36, Matt. 10:28)
The Sabbath remains a sign (31:13, 17, Heb. 4:9, Matt. 11:28)
