Wage The Good Warfare!
1 Timothy 1:18-20, 2 Corinthians 10:3-5

Introduction
Context, CONtext CONTEXT! And there is only ONE CORRECT INTERPRETATION of the BIBLE. That is the meaning YHWH declared by what He wrote/inspired in the Word of Truth. We don’t ‘decide’ what that meaning is. We ‘discover’ that meaning by careful and proper methods of study of written material. These principles of Bible Study are of monumental importance and offer the only way to “rightly divide the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15). And proper handling of Scripture leads to sound doctrine. Improper handling of Scripture leads to false doctrine. This passage in 1 Timothy 1, emphasizes the fundamental importance of defending sound doctrine and refuting false doctrine and those who teach it.

* The Commandment - to Paul (Vv. 1-2)
* The Charge - to Timothy (Vv. 3-7)
* The Law – Not for the Righteous but for the Ungodly… (Vv. 8-11)
* The Blasphemer (who received mercy) & the King Eternal (Who deserves honor and glory) (Vv. 12-17)
* The Charge – to Timothy to wage good warfare (Vv. 18-20)
- V. 18 – Wage the good Warfare
- V. 19 – Which some have rejected
- V. 20 – Whom I delivered to Satan

Timeless Truth
Sound doctrine is a serious matter – a very serious matter. False doctrine is a serious danger – a very serious danger. This short passage emphasizes just how important and necessary it is for the leadership of any church to shoulder the responsibility to teach and defend sound doctrine and to refute and root out false doctrine. This sobering passage could not be any more straightforward and clear.

Living Lesson
Perhaps there are some who welcome the idea of engaging in conflict, but most people, especially Christians, would like to avoid conflict if at all possible. However, when it comes to defending the TRUTH of YHWH’s Word, we must all be ready and willing to engage in whatever level of conflict is necessary to defend the Truth and to refute Falsehood. Are you prepared and willing to “wage the good warfare”?
