Many of us simply do not learn from the past. The events of the children of Israel recorded in Numbers have just gotten worse and worse. There were repeated complaints, attacks on Moses, and rebellion against God’s promise and plan. Just when we thought they had learned from their mistakes, another issue surfaced.

In this week’s lesson, Korah and other prominent people challenged Moses and Aaron’s position. They were not happy with the roles and responsibilities God had given them in Numbers 4. They wanted more authority and felt they could do a better job than their current leader.

Moses quickly responds to avoid further negative impact on the community. He promised that the Lord Himself would show everyone who His true servants were.

Next week we will learn the outcome of Korah’s challenge.
