Ephesus was a city filled with the occult. In His graciousness, God allowed Paul to perform various miracles to counter the witchcraft in that city. Upon seeing Paul cast out evil spirits in the name of Jesus, 7 sons of the high priest "Sceva" set out to use this new "incantation" they heard Paul using. The resulting exchange is one of the only verbal encounters with a demon recorded in our bible. It's terrifying, violent, and fundamentally changes how this town sees Jesus.
