Having given out land to the tribe of Judah, it was now time to give land to the tribe of Joseph, who would be represented by his two sons: Ephraim and Manasseh. Neither of these tribes by themselves were the largest in Israel, but together, they did outnumber even the tribe of Judah. Therefore, together they would receive much land too. However, it would be divided by these the tribe of these two sons. The lot for the tribe of Joseph first came to Joseph's youngest son: Ephraim. What land would this tribe receive? In Lesson 39 of our study of Joshua we learn the answer to this question.
