Israel tried and failed to take the city of Ai after their victory in Jericho, and now Joshua is wondering if it was even worth it crossing over the Jordan River seeing as how they had land east of the Jordan. Joshua hadn't really consulted God or considered that the Lord might have been angry with Israel. When the Lord thus spoke to Joshua, what did he tell him was the reason that Israel lost at Ai? In Lesson 16 of our study of Joshua we learn the answer to this question.
