"But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God. " (Genesis 6:8-9)

This was during a time when the earth was so corrupt. Angels were having sexual relations with earthly women, there was violence, lawlessness, and murder. The earth was in total chaos but Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.

How do you find something? You look for it. Grace is empowerment. Noah realized he was in a crazy time, and he went looking for God to empower him. Noah looked to the Lord to enable him to not get caught up in the darkness, to not go the way of everyone else, to not drink out of the cup of compromise, to empower his family to be different. Noah knew he didn’t have answers within himself, but because he went looking, he found.

God is waiting to empower you! He has the power to keep you from getting caught up in craziness, to keep you from blending in, or from being neutral or average. God wants you to stand out and be special. He has created you to be the diamond in the rough. You are wired to be above average– that doesn’t mean it’s automatic; but in the midst of everyone else around you falling, quitting, walking away or giving in, you don’t have to.

You may say, “But Pastor Billy you don’t know how hard it is…” It is hard. Not only is it hard, it’s impossible to do in your own strength. Noah found grace and empowerment that was not his own because he went looking. Jesus said, “Seek and you will find.”

If you’re in a situation this week that is bigger than you and you don’t want to cave in, go looking for grace! Call on the Lord and tell Him you need to be empowered – empowered to hold the line, to be separate, to be in a position where God can work through you despite the environment that you’re in. Show the Lord that you are looking for empowerment and grace.

If you can do this, the same thing will happen for you that happened for Noah. Noah found grace and he was able to stand strong, build the ark, and his entire family made it through the storm.
