Worship of the Holy One of Israel should be in Reverence and Godly Fear (Isaiah 6:2)
We should worship with much greater reverence and fear than those of the Old Testament because we have come to a much greater reality than those of the Old Testament (Hebrews 12:18-29)
If the Old Testament reality was terrifying, how much more should we tremble (Hebrews 12:18-23, Exodus 19:11b-25, 20:18-21)
Because in the Old Testament, they rejected the word spoken through angels, but we would be rejecting the word spoken through Christ (Hebrews 2:1-4)
Being that the blood of Christ is the only thing that calls out for mercy from God, a better thing than the blood of Abel that called out for justice (Genesis 4:9-11), if we reject Christ, we reject our only hope of mercy from God
So we must not refuse the voice from heaven that speaks concerning Christ (Hebrews 10:26-31) but let us worship God with reverence and godly fear
The word translated ‘serve’ has to do with worship (Hebrews 10:1-2)
