As the children of God we are to find life in Him. He is our source in all we face in this life. He is our empowerment. Just as He lives in us through faith, He desires that we would be vessels in which He expresses His life through us. We must not forget that everything we do in self-sufficiency is just wood, hay and stubble and will all burn up at the judgment. He gave His life to us that as we live in and from Him our lives are actively surrendering to all He desires to do through us and this is the beauty of being an agent in building His kingdom with gold, silver and precious stones. This is possible because He is our righteousness. He makes us righteous and living out righteousness is evidence we are His.

1 John 2:29-3:10 // True Children Of God

The word "mystery" in the Bible refers to what was once hidden and now is revealed. So what is the great mystery of godliness? What is the great motivation for living a godly life? What is the great power for godly living? It is none other than the Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Timothy 3:16 says, for great is the mystery of godliness, He who was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached to the nations, believed on in the world, and received up in glory.

While I desire to preach and to teach that you might grow in knowledge of the only true God and Jesus Christ the One whom He sent, my goal isn't simply to fill your head with knowledge but rather, to place Christ before you so that with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, you might be transformed to the same image from glory to glory, just as by God who is the Spirit and that the love of Christ might compel you to no longer live for yourself, but for Him who died and was raised for you.

Mystery of Godliness Bible Study

1 John 2:20, 27 
But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things...but the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you,... (and what is this anointing? The Holy Spirit) 
 
So what are the ‘all things’ that the anointing from the Holy One teaches us? 
 
The Anointing from the Holy One teaches us to Continue in Fellowship 1 John 2:18-20 
While the antichrist teachers prove that they do not have the anointing by departing from fellowship, the anointing teaches true believers to continue in fellowship 
According to v22, these antichrist teachers appear to have departed from fellowship with the saints because they did not agree with the doctrine concerning Jesus Christ, so while it is not necessarily wrong to leave one church for another, to leave a church because you disagree with the biblical preaching of the biblical Jesus Christ for another that scratches your itching ears, may be evidence that you do not have the anointing from God and you just may prove that you were never a Christian to began with. 
 
The Anointing from the Holy One teaches us concerning the Deity of Christ 1 John 2:21-25 
While the antichrist teachers teach a false doctrine concerning Jesus Christ, the anointing teaches true believers the true doctrine that Jesus Christ is the Anointed One of God 1 John 2:21-23 
Who was the Christ according to the Old Testament 
The Christ would be the One to crush Satan’s head Genesis 3:15 
The Christ would be the Ruler from the Tribe of Judah Genesis 49:10 
The Christ would be the Star out of Jacob Numbers 24:17 
The Christ would be the Prophet like Moses Deuteronomy 18:15-19 
The Christ would be the promised Seed of David 1 Samuel 7:12-14 
The Christ would be the One to Inherit the Nations Psalm 2 
The Christ would be the Lord at God’s right hand 
The Christ would be the Ruler in the midst of His enemies 
The Christ would be the Eternal Priest 
The Christ would Judge of all the Earth Psalm 110 
The Christ would be the Wonderful Counselor 
The Christ would be the Mighty God 
The Christ would be the Everlasting Father Isaiah 9:6-7 
The Christ would be the Elect One of God Isaiah 42:1-7 
The Christ would be the Polished Shaft of the Father Isaiah 49:1-13 
The Christ would be the Taught one of God Isaiah 50:4-9 
The Christ would be the Suffering Servant of God Isaiah 52:13-53:12 
The Christ would be the Everlasting Ruler from Bethlehem Micah 5:2 
If you don’t have the correct doctrine concerning Christ, you don’t have God nor eternal life 1 John 2:23-25 
 
The Anointing from the Holy One teaches us to Abide in Christ, Practicing Righteousness 1 John 2:26-29 
There is a righteousness that God requires to abide in Christ, and it surpasses that of the scribes and pharisees Matthew 5:20 
The Righteousness God requires keeps the law of God from the heart 
Murder Matthew 5:21-22 
Adultery Matthew 5:27-30 
The Righteousness God requires does its righteousness for the glory of God 
Deeds of Mercy Matthew 6:1-4 
Prayer Matthew 6:5-6 
Fasting Matthew 6:16-18 
The Righteousness that God requires seeks 1st the kingdom of God Matthew 6:19-34 
It stores up its treasure in heaven Matthew 6:19-21 
It has a heavenly perspective Matthew 6:22-23 
It does not serve 2 masters Matthew 6:24

1 John 2:20, 27
