Luke 21:5-19 
5 May ilang tao namang nag-uusap tungkol sa Templo. Pinag-uusapan nila ang naglalakihan at magagandang batong ginamit dito at ang mga palamuting inihandog ng mga tao. Kaya't sinabi sa kanila ni Jesus, 6 “Darating ang panahon na ang lahat ng nakikita ninyong iyan ay iguguho, at walang matitirang magkakapatong na mga bato.” 
Mga Kahirapan at Pag-uusig na Darating 
7 Tinanong nila si Jesus, “Guro, kailan po mangyayari iyon? At ano ang magiging palatandaang iyon ay magaganap na?” 8 Sumagot si Jesus, “Mag-ingat kayo upang hindi kayo mailigaw ninuman! Marami ang darating sa aking pangalan at magsasabi, ‘Ako ang Cristo,’ at, ‘Dumating na ang panahon!’ Huwag kayong susunod sa kanila. 9 Huwag kayong matatakot kung makabalita man kayo ng mga digmaan at mga himagsikan. Dapat munang mangyari ang mga iyon subalit hindi kaagad darating ang wakas.” 10 At sinabi pa niya, “Maglalaban-laban ang mga bansa at ang mga kaharian. 11 Magkakaroon ng malalakas na lindol, taggutom at mga salot sa iba't ibang dako. May lilitaw na mga kakaibang bagay at mga kakila-kilabot na kababalaghan buhat sa langit. 12 “Ngunit bago mangyari ang lahat ng ito, kayo'y dadakpin at uusigin. Kayo'y lilitisin sa mga sinagoga at ipabibilanggo. At dahil sa pagsunod ninyo sa akin, isasakdal kayo sa harap ng mga hari at mga gobernador. 13 Iyon ang pagkakataon ninyo upang makapagpatotoo tungkol sa akin. 14 Ipagpasya ninyo na huwag kayong mabahala kung paano ninyo ipagtatanggol ang inyong sarili, 15 sapagkat bibigyan ko kayo ng pananalita at karunungang hindi kayang tutulan o pabulaanan ng sinuman sa inyong mga kaaway. 16 Ipagkakanulo kayo kahit ng inyong mga magulang, mga kapatid, mga kamag-anak at mga kaibigan; at ipapapatay nila ang ilan sa inyo. 17 Kapopootan kayo ng lahat dahil sa akin, 18 ngunit hindi kayo malalagasan kahit isang hibla ng buhok. 19 Sa inyong pagtitiis ay maililigtas ninyo ang inyong buhay.”

Signs and Persecutions 
7 They asked him, “Teacher, when will this be, and what will be the sign that this is about to take place?” 8 And he said, “Beware that you are not led astray; for many will come in my name and say, ‘I am he!’[a] and, ‘The time is near!’[b] Do not go after them. 
 
9 “When you hear of wars and insurrections, do not be terrified; for these things must take place first, but the end will not follow immediately.” 10 Then he said to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; 11 there will be great earthquakes, and in various places famines and plagues; and there will be dreadful portents and great signs from heaven. 
 
12 “But before all this occurs, they will arrest you and persecute you; they will hand you over to synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors because of my name. 13 This will give you an opportunity to testify. 14 So make up your minds not to prepare your defense in advance; 15 for I will give you words[c] and a wisdom that none of your opponents will be able to withstand or contradict. 16 You will be betrayed even by parents and brothers, by relatives and friends; and they will put some of you to death. 17 You will be hated by all because of my name. 18 But not a hair of your head will perish. 19 By your endurance you will gain your souls.
