Even now, Jesus is interceding for us as our faithful High Priest, offering prayers to God on our behalf (Romans 8:34). So when you do suffer, don’t be afraid to pray “painful prayers.” Don’t be afraid to pray tearful prayers. Don’t be afraid to pour your heart out to God because that is exactly how you get to really know Him in all His goodness and mercy (Psalm 34:4). Going through suffering doesn’t always mean you have weak faith (again, look at Jesus!) but it can always be a chance for your faith to grow and be made stronger. Allow yourself to be transformed through the power of prayer so that you too can stand firmly in Him even if your immediate circumstances don’t change.

The Institution of the Lord’s Supper 
14 When the hour came, he took his place at the table, and the apostles with him. 15 He said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; 16 for I tell you, I will not eat it[a] until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” 17 Then he took a cup, and after giving thanks he said, “Take this and divide it among yourselves; 18 for I tell you that from now on I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.” 19 Then he took a loaf of bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. In our darkest hours—when we feel alone, frightened, and powerless—Jesus shows us another way. 
 
Join us in Luke 22:47–71 as we witness Jesus in His darkest hour. Though betrayed, denied, and condemned, He remains calm, courageous, and utterly in control. 
 
The Betrayal 
Judas betrays Jesus with a kiss. Yet Jesus, fully aware, steps forward, protects His disciples, heals His enemy, and confronts the powers of darkness. 
 
The Denial 
Peter denies Jesus three times. But Jesus, knowing all of Peter’s failures, still loves, prays for, and later restores him. The Omniscient One is denied, but never vindictive. 
 
The Council 
In a sham trial, Jesus refuses to play their game. Instead, He boldly proclaims Himself the Son of Man, seated at the right hand of God. Condemned, but never vanquished. 
 
Takeaway: Even in the darkest hour, Jesus is King 
It might look like the powers of darkness are winning. But it is King Jesus who wields Power in the Dark.
