A Lifelong Refuge (Psalm 71:1-13)

I am the pastor of Redeemer Reformation Church in Regina, SK. I originally started this channel to help my church members and others in the world during this COVID-19 pandemic to sing from home for private and family worship. The main content of this channel is recordings of Psalms and hymns from the Trinity Psalter Hymnal. I don't have any professional equipment. Most of my videos were recorded on an iPhone 8 and with my old Fender FA-100 guitar I got from Costco :). I pray that this channel will be helpful to others in singing praises to our Triune God! "be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ..." (Ephesians 5:18-20).

We are a young congregation that began meeting with three families in 1997 and are now comprised of about twenty households. Our goal as a congregation is to find our joy in God by living for His honour and glory. We believe that this is our highest purpose, and that it can only be accomplished by looking to Jesus Christ our Saviour and depending on the Holy Spirit whom He promised to all that trust in Him.

Our church is “Presbyterian” in government, meaning we have elders who shepherd and care for the congregation. We are “Reformed” in doctrine, meaning we hold to a biblical view of Scripture and salvation. We confess the historic Christian faith as expressed in the Westminster Confession of Faith with its Larger and Shorter Catechisms and the Apostles’ & Nicene Creeds.

In our sermon series on The Christian in Every Stage of Life, we have come today to The Church’s Seniors. 
- But I want you to know that this is not the final stage. We will be looking at death and the resurrection as well. 
 
As I was working on this, it dawned on me that according to the scriptures, I am probably in this category myself. 
- It is not retirement, but more the time when you become a member of the oldest generation—and are past the age to have children. 
 
Today with regard to seniors, we want to look at: 
- the beauty of those in the church who are in this stage of life, 
- the sins that hinder that beauty, 
- and then at how we ought to treat those who are in this stage.
