Veel vormen van hoop zijn gebaseerd op externe factoren in het leven, die grotendeels buiten onze macht liggen; een leidinggevende die positief gestemd is over je werk, een docent die de 'juiste' vragen stelt, jouw naam die getrokken wordt uit de duizenden inzenders. 
Maar de hoop die je als kind van God mag hebben in Christus is absoluut zeker. Er wordt niets aan het toeval overgelaten. Deze hoop is gebaseerd op het feit van Christus' opstanding en het feit dat Hij al vooruitgegaan is om een plaats voor ons klaar te maken. 
Vaak twijfel ik over vele bezigheden en zorgen van dit leven. Beloftes die ik maak en niet na kan komen of door tijdsdruk ben vergeten. Wat falen wij mensen vaak in wie we zijn voor elkaar en voor onszelf. Gelukkig mag ik er zeker van zijn dat de plaats die Christus voor ons voorbereidt, klaar is wanneer we aankomen, want Hij laat niets aan toeval over. Alles wat Hij beloofd heeft, zal Hij ook doen, precies zoals Hij gezegd heeft. Is God ook de Rots, je deel en je eeuwig goed? 
 
'Gelukkig wie de God van Jakob tot hulp heeft, wie zijn hoop vestigt op de HEERE, zijn God.'
