Ronn particularly introduces his understanding of the Holy Spirit’s “sanctification” of Gentile communities in the upcoming Book of Acts, recommending that this idea will satisfy so many of the tensions both in the ministry of Jesus and the growth of the later church. John’s purpose in John 3:31-36 is to record his or John the Baptist’s explanation as to why it is necessary for John to decrease and Christ to increase, as he said in John 3:29. He explains that Christ’s testimony is superior to his because Christ bears witness to what He has seen with His own eyes and heard with His own ears. Jesus is from heaven, from above, and all others are from earth. The one who is from above is necessarily above all. Moreover, His testimony is of eternal significance, such that anyone who believes and obeys Him will be granted eternal life, but those who refuse to obey Him remain under the just condemnation of God’s wrath.

But we cannot receive the things of God of our own accord.  We can name and claim until we grow old and die, but if we do not actually receive the promised objects we have no right to claim we possess them.  We cannot receive the things of God unless they are given.

HE IS ABOVE ALL 
 
Only Jesus has come from Heaven (John 3:13) And, only those who believe His message can be saved (John 3:18). He has the only true testimony. This word translated "testimony" is martureo, which means "to report," or "to affirm," in the same sense that a person's statement in court is called their "testimony." The apostle John uses this term very often, more than 30 times in this gospel, and 40 times overall. 
 
Jesus brought revelation which is far superior than any other teacher, or any other may claim. Sadly, many despised Him and His message. However, those who do accept Jesus are accepting God (John 3:16). This leads to eternal life, as well as spiritual relationship and growth (John 1:12). He even came in the power of the Spirit.[John 16:9,10] A person cannot truly understand spiritual things without this salvation (1 Cor 2:14). Repeatedly, the Bible explains that the only way to be saved is through Jesus Christ (John 14:6; 3:36; 3:18). 
 
Yes, the Father loves the Son as the relationship of the Godhead ever is. Yet, he did not spare but gave Him for us. [Rom 8:32, 5:8] Thus, believing and rejecting Him mean receiving eternal life and eternal wrath from God, respectively.[see v.18]

Note:  According to Biblical geography, Salim is a place in the Jordan valley near Aenon, where John baptized people. It was identified near Samaria where many architectural remains of the Roman period have been discovered. The springs of Wadi Raria located near here lead some to believe that this is the "much water" referred to in John 3:23. 
For John was not yet cast into prison. 
Matthew 14:3-4… Luke 3:19-20 
 
Verses 25-30…. John the Baptist testifies that Christ must increase.
