But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. (I Peter 2:9)
Mankind is divided into two main groups. There is the Church, the Royal Priesthood, God’s elect. Then there is the majority of mankind, who are the inheritance of Christ and the elect
That Jesus will inherit mankind is revealed in the following:
Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession. (Psalms 2:8)
And we of the Church are co-heirs with Christ of the nations and the end of the earth.
Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. (Romans 8:17)
Sometimes we Christians refer to mansions, streets of gold, and backyards filled with diamonds as our inheritance. How foolish! To inherit one human being is better than a thousand such heavens. God and Christ understand this well.
But I guess the value of a human being has to be revealed to us.
When I am referring to the house, home, resting place, and throne of God, I am speaking only of the Church, the Royal Priesthood. They compose the new Jerusalem. Their task is to represent God, His will, His ways, and His Kingdom, to the saved people of the nations.
If you will read the Bible, and then think about it, you will see that the Scriptures are addressed primarily to God’s elect, the Royal Priesthood, the called of the Lord, both Jews and Gentiles by race.
An atonement was made for all people on the cross of Calvary. Whoever will of the nations may repent and be baptized, thus receiving forgiveness of sins. Then God will bring them through to life in the new world of righteousness, a new world governed by the members of the royal priesthood.
